ecoTech's USB packaging design provides a unique and innovative way to easily open and reuse the box as a planter.
The task for this project was to design and create a dieline for a USB flash drive that was easy to open and environmentally friendly. This project was inspired by my personal experience purchasing and trying to open a USB flash drive and witnessing customers struggle as well when I worked in an electronic retail store. They're typically encased in a thick, cardboard material, and the only way to open and get the flash drive is by cutting the top with scissors and trying to reach it with one or two fingers without getting cut by the plastic-- making it such a struggle for such a small product.
Designing the packaging, logo and dieline required a lot of research on common biodegradable materials, reusable packaging and design elements found on eco-friendly products. This also entailed a lot of sketch iterations and planning to explore and combine the best features into one final design.
ecoTech's USB Flash Drive packaging evokes a clean, eco-friendly brand that is easily accessible by opening a rounded tab located on the back and can be reused as a biodegradable planter afterwards.
